Adobe Technology Platform for RIAs. AIR and Flex 3 Now Available

Over the past months we have been playing with various Alphas and Betas of Adobe AIR and Flex 3. Well, the testing period is over and today Adobe announced the immediate availability of both technologies.

Adobe Flex 3 and Adobe AIR represent a big step forward and along with Adobe Flash® Player they are the foundation of the Adobe technology platform for RIAs.

 

The release of Adobe AIR marks the next wave of RIA innovation by bridging the real-time, dynamic capabilities of the Web with the computing power and data capabilities of the desktop.

At the same time, Adobe is introducing opensource.adobe.com, a centralized resource for Adobe Open Source intiatives and  where the Flex 3 SDK and BlazeDS open source projects will be hosted.

AIR Tour coming to Europe....by Train!!!

Last year the Adobe AIR Bus drove the US from West to East showing the full capabilities of this exciting new Adobe Technology.

Well, this year is Europe time. The difference, the evangelist team is riding trains instead of buses from South to North, East to West. We will be visiting 12 cities delivering free full day events.

Yahoo Maps AS3 API

Looking to add some mapping capabilities to your RIA? Well, Yahoo just released an ActionScript 3.0 compatible set of APIs that will allow your Flex/Flash to consume Yahoo's mapping services.
